Your teacher: Teja Goli

I believe that we improvise every day. We don’t walk around with a script that tells us how to respond to something unexpected, do we? And so, many of us often find ourselves in situations where we feel awkward, socially anxious, out of control … everyday stage fright maybe??

I used to be like that. As a timid gamer and exceptional overthinker, I used to panic when things didn’t go as planned. I was terrified of experimenting and failing, thus, preferring to stay in “the comfort zone”. But something felt wrong. It was like I was missing out on life.

Then, nearly a decade ago, I discovered impro and it changed my life profoundly. Throughout the years, that once frightened over-thinker, over-planner and over-achiever evolved into a spontaneous social soul that embraces the unknown and the mistakes that come with exploring it.

My backstory

I fell in love with impro almost 10 years ago and immersed myself in training at IGLU Theatre Ljubljana in Slovenia until 2023 when I relocated to Iceland

In 2018, I joined BIZON, an independent theatre troupe, where we honed our skills in various long-form improv shows. We organised shows by ourselves and even developed our own formats. Eventually, I was invited to the main cast of IGLU+, engaging in weekly performances across a diverse range of shows (such an improvised musical or Greek tragedy).

Inspired to share the great benefits of improvisation, I became a certified teacher in 2019 through Slovenia’s “Bodigatreba” program. I started teaching high-school students that same year.

Continuing my education globally, in 2021, I participated in a online Business Improvisation course by the University of Krems/Vienna.

As an instructor, I’ve worked with diverse age groups, emphasizing playfulness, mindfulness, and openness. I relocated to Iceland in 2023, and by year-end, I successfully taught two groups.

I also have a MA degree in Translation Studies, so it’s easy for me to connect to people from different language backgrounds.

My philosophy

I absolutely LOVE to see the glow on people’s faces when they realize how well they can empower themselves though playfulness. My focus is to connect people to each other and themselves through fun impro games and acting scenes. In this process, they boost their awareness, creativity, communication, and overall confidence.

In my classes, I show you that it’s possible to (re)act daringly, fearlessly and mindfully. I create a safe space for you to explore and train for the situations that come up in everyday life. Soon, you’ll notice that you react differently in difficult situations, that you become more willing to try out new things, and that you are a source of endless creativity!
